Austrian Design in the Dorotheum
29.february - dont' miss it !
To further our international audience's knowledge and appreciation of the quality of Austrian design is among the declared aims of the auction „Austrian Design“ on 29th February 2012 at Vienna Dorotheum. Viewing starting 22.Feb., 10am-6pm, SA 9am-5pm. |
Around 170 famous Austrian design objects from the nineteen-twenties to the nineteen-sixties will come up for auction together with quintessential works of later periods.
The auction's focal point is provided by the collection of the „Vienna Design Tradition“, an alliance founded in 2008 by committed Austrian design experts Markus Pernhaupt, Dagmar Moser, Christof Stein (lichterloh Kunsthandel), Renate and Patrick Kovacs (Kunsthandel), and Harald Bichler (Rauminhalt Design), who over the years carefully acquired objects from various private collections.
Moderate prices characterise an auction selection ranging from Josef Frank, a pioneer of modern functional design, and his company "Haus und Garten", to famous architectural designs by Oswald Haerdtl, Fritz Reichel, Hugo George, Roland Rainer, or Johannes Spalt, as well as including startling works by Julius Jirasek from the nineteen-fifties (for Hagenauer) or items from the "Sonett" range of steel wire furniture. Particularly close attention will be paid to the professional and private histories of such internationally renowned proponents of Austro-Design as Auböck, Hagenauer, and Kalmar.
with best regards
