We welcome you with the so called 'Smoking Room' of Portois & Fix in the Hofburg Vienna. The furnishing company 'Portois & Fix', 1881 founded in Vienna, became one of the most successful Viennese companies at the turn of the century with worldwide reputation and international branches. The furniture of the company is still popular at the international art market representing the best examples of the Viennese furniture around 1900. The interior, we present in Vienna, was exhibited by Portois & Fix at the Imperial Royal Austrian Exhibition in London in 1906 and was available in different versions. This interior is still very attractive as study: mahogany with palisander inlay and brass fittings, showing the influence of the floral art nouveau style combined with geometric shapes of the Viennese modernism. Two cabinets - suitable with the writing desk - offer place for books and art objects. In addition more objects of Viennese artists, designers and companies of the Viennese modernism around 1900 will be available at the fair e. g. a bentwood table of Jacob & Josef Kohn or a Loetz glass table lamp.
